Season 4, round 8
(March 30th 2005)

eh vs CS (0-3)

Let's try to remember what happened yesterday and make a little summary. I'm sorry if I don't remember all details and all CS players... For us this was a better match than the ones we have played recently, allthough it was far from our best. Somehow we don't have the same amount of motivation as during the first matches. But we still want to win!

We started on speed, a very good map by Tuko. Gandos, Kiff and I played for the elk hunters, while killo, Kyo!!! and sylv played for CS. Most rounds were very close and the lead shifted all the time in all rounds. I think all players had victories. There were a lot of funny episodes in front of the huge hill jump, during the jump and in the landing after it. I was by far the one handling this part the best, and in 4/5 rounds I passed several players here. This does of course mean that I made a lot of silly mistakes in the first half of the map. As usual I made my mistakes in the easy parts and did well in the hard parts (conclusion: give me tougher league maps!!!). As I recall there was only one player who were relatively consistent, and that was killo. His consistency was the small important difference throughout the match, so GG to him. Result: 7-4 to CS.

Next was Snow. This map was nicely made, but (as said above) it was quite easy and unforgiving to small mistakes. All the sharp transmissions betweens the pieces made it very hard to be consistent with kb, and CS seemed to profit on that we played with two kb players. Still, there were a lot of close rounds, and most of them had 3 players driving 59. Kyo or killo had a 58.9x close to the end. On the last round we got the most exciting round of the map. We were four players doing very well going over the ice. Gandos was in front of killo, while I was battling side by side with Kyo for the important 3rd place. Going into the ice sectiiong I try to get the advantage by getting a better angle in front of the next turn. The problem was that I tried a little too hard, end ended up crashing into the right pillar where the road begins again. Later it turned out that 4th place would have given us the point :P. Anyway, Gandos finish in 59.90, killo with 59.07 and Kyo with 59.2x. Kiff also get below the minute, so this was a fabulous round!! 7-3 to CS.

On rally Nanteq stepped in for Kiff, and Naru for sylv. This map ended with a one point win, but it shifted a lot. killo was once again the consistent player, but this time he didn't have as much help from his team mates as on the other maps. CS took the first two points. I set a pb in the second round, but it didn't help... In the next 4 rounds we drove very well, while Kyo and Naru made mistake by mistake. Suddenly we lead 4-2. But... when the sun starts shining, the thunder clouds come rolling in. The game turned in a second. Kyo and Naru starts making good rounds and we as a team start driving where we shouldn't. CS "steals" 4 quick points to make it 6-4. Then things turn again and it's tied at 6-6. The last round is a thriller, and for 2/3 of the map it's just as well driven as the last round on snow. The mistakes are made, a little more by the elk hunters than Chrono's Strikers, so the map ends 7-6.

Thanks for a fun match CS. A lot of tight rounds. And GG to killo for a very consistent match!

I think Nanteq did his best rally match so far, and the driving on training lately shows that he is becoming a good rally player.
